Sometimes you need to get away from everything familiar to hear what God has been saying all along.

COJ retreats are meaningful opportunities for men and women to leave the noise behind and find room to breathe. Retreats have always been an avenue to get away with God and to experience Him in a tangible way.

About Us

A journey that has to be experienced.

Crossing Over Jordan is a journey to experience Jesus in a tangible way like never before. It is a revival sweeping through the churched and the unchurched. It is for singles (age 15 and up) and married alike. It is a journey that has to be experienced, not explained. The miracle-working power of God will have you arrive as one person but leave as another — a passionate, healed warrior for God living in the peace of your Promised Land.

Based solely on steps contained in the Bible, you will move through the weekend step by step until you enter that Promised Land by crossing over your personal Jordans. God himself meets you in this beautiful nature setting, away from all distractions, making it a conducive environment to reacquaint yourself with Jesus and bask in His life-transforming power!

God is raising up an army in these last days — don’t miss an opportunity to partner with God and thousands of others to be present-day world changers.

A place where a new passion for life is renewed and purpose is found!

Where It All Started

12 women.One trip.The beginning of something more.

Long before that mountain, hundreds of women had already gone before — their prayers and faithfulness quietly paving the way. Crossing Over Jordan wasn't born on the mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. But there, with 12 women on a simple trip, it was rebirthed. What began as a getaway became a holy encounter — as they prayed, worshiped, and opened their hearts, God began doing something none of them expected.

Those women came home changed, and the story didn't stop there. That single weekend grew into a movement of retreats where men and women walk step by step through the Bible until they cross over their own personal Jordans. Today, Crossing Over Jordan gathers at the Springville Camp & Conference Center in Alabama, welcoming crossers completely free — sponsored by those who have already crossed and now help others do the same.

They went on a trip. God started a journey.

The Bobby Pin

Have you
seen one?

Sometimes the smallest things become reminders of something much bigger.

The bobby pin has become a meaningful symbol within the Crossing Over Jordan community—a simple reminder of the presence, power, and nearness of the Holy Spirit. What may seem ordinary carries a much deeper meaning for those who have experienced a COJ retreat.

For Crossers, seeing a bobby pin can serve as a quiet reminder that God is near, the Holy Spirit is at work, and we are never walking alone.

But the full story of the bobby pin is something meant to be experienced. Join us at a Crossing Over Jordan retreat and discover the story—and meaning—of the bobby pin for yourself.

Keep your eyes open.

Bobby Pin Sightings

Little reminders, found everywhere.

Real moments Crossers have shared when they noticed a bobby pin in the most ordinary — and perfectly timed — places.

Our Mission

The Isaiah 61 promises of God.

We exist to give people free opportunities to experience the Isaiah 61 blessings and promises of God. We believe that through the weekend journey at Crossing Over Jordan, God ALWAYS does the following:

Heals the brokenhearted

Gives liberty to the captives

Opens the prison doors to those who are bound

Comforts all who mourn

Gives beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning

Trades the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness

Rebuilds the old ruins of their lives and raises up the former desolations

Repairs the ruined cities, and saves the desolations of many generations

People leave as priests of the Lord, and are called the servants of our God. Instead of shame they shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs.

This is what happens at COJ — through the testimonies of those who have conquered and through the supernatural power of Jesus Christ. It’s not just individuals being transformed; it is families, churches, communities, and generations to come.

All Glory be to God!

6 requests

My prayer is that God would continue to breathe on Crossing Over Jordan and use this ministry in ways far beyond anything any person could plan or imagine. I’m praying for every person who will walk through the doors of a COJ retreat—that they would encounter Jesus, experience freedom, find healing, and leave knowing they are deeply loved by God.

In their words

Lives that were changed.

God needed to deal with me. He needed me to be ready to give up the keys so he could begin unlocking doors that bring healing, restoration, peace and freedom. Thank you for giving to the Lord! I am a life that was changed!

A COJ Crosser

The people behind COJ

Familiar faces, open hearts.

Crossing Over Jordan is carried by ordinary people who love God and love people. Here are a few of the faces you'll meet along the way.

Jason & Brenda Johnson
Founders of COJ

Meet Jason & Brenda

Jason and Brenda’s story is one of redemption, restoration, and God’s faithfulness. After each walking through painful seasons of divorce and brokenness, God brought their lives together and began writing a new chapter neither could have anticipated.

Both had previously served in ministry, but through their journey together, God renewed their calling and brought ministry back to life — not simply as individuals, but as one. Today, they have devoted their lives to Jesus, their family, and the ministry God has entrusted to them through Crossing Over Jordan.

Jason and Brenda live in Cullman, Alabama, and are blessed with three children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and five grandchildren. Their lives are a testimony that God can redeem what has been broken, restore what seemed lost, and use every part of our story for His purpose.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6

Howard & Trish Posey

Howard & Trish Posey

COJ Lead Team

Howard and Trish Posey shared 37 years of marriage, building a life centered around faith, family, and serving God together. Blessed with five children, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren, they shared a deep love for seeing lives transformed through the power of Jesus.

Crossing Over Jordan became a significant turning point in their own story, bringing spiritual healing, renewed courage, and a work of God that impacted not only their lives, but their family as well. Their experience strengthened their passion for helping others encounter that same healing and freedom.

In December 2025, Howard passed away, leaving behind an incredible legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to his family and to the Kingdom of God. His influence remains a meaningful part of the COJ story.

Today, Trish continues to help lead Crossing Over Jordan, carrying forward the ministry she and Howard loved so deeply and helping others experience the life-changing work of God that meant so much to them.

Pay It Forward

Every crosser comes free.

There is no cost to attend Crossing Over Jordan. Every Crosser is able to experience a retreat because someone before them chose to give. That's the heart of Pay It Forward.

The generosity of past Crossers, families, friends, and ministry partners makes the way for the person coming next—helping cover lodging, five meals, activities, and the retreat experience so that cost never has to stand in the way of someone saying yes to what God wants to do in their life.

Someone made the way for you. Now you can help make the way for someone else.

A quiet morning at the Crossing Over Jordan retreat

Someone made a way for you.
Now you can make a way for someone else.

When you give, you're not simply giving to a ministry — you're helping ensure the next Crosser can experience God, find healing, and step into what He has for them, completely free.
